These beautiful antique candle holders are from Kashmir or South Russia and date from around 1900. The papier mâché has been intricately hand painted and lacquered.

These antique candle holders are in overall good condition.
A common aspect of damage seen on many examples like these is holes drilled into the side of the base (see image). This is because the candleholders have been converted into table lamps at some point. They have certainly been used for their intended purpose more recently though as there are still bits of hardened wax in the top holes.
You will see in one of the detail shots that the left hand item where the stem meets the base is missing a section. This section has been carefully painted with black paint. The price reflects the condition.
