Description
Apothecary cabinet condition report:
These watchmakers/ apothecary drawers are in well used condition with lots of marks. There is no damage to this piece and the structure is sound. All drawer trays are with no damage or splits to the wood. There are mildew stains inside the drawers but it has been treated to kill spores. All handles are fixed firmly with no movement. One of the handles is different to the others and has been added at a later date. It has a dried substance on it- possibly glue/resin which I would try to remove but I may damage the handle in the process.

Understanding more about these 1930s watchmaker’s/ apothecary cabinet:
This wonderful set of drawers came to me with a few watch parts left in them. The watchmakers only closed down in 2017/18 and had been used for many years for the same purpose. Made at a time, despite the Industrial Revolution, when the high street was peppered with bookbinders, tanners, tailors, and other specialist makers. Since then, of course, times have changed immensely, but I feel the desire to own handmade items is still as strong. Makers/creatives crave to be surrounded by things that bear the mark of human interaction and have a story to tell. The previous owner tells me these watchmaker/ apothecary cabinet drawers were full of the best watch parts including Rolex! I am sure that its future owner will fill it with lots of interesting items and will hopefully get a lot of use and enjoyment out of it.
